As A Man, You've Got It Easy

The cries of men around the world echo loudly in all of our ears, "the internet is killing dating", "women have too many options", "men have to do too much to get girls", "it's not even worth trying because the deck is stacked against us". It seems that everywhere we turn our heads, the same problems are mentioned over and over again, in unison. While it is true that the world has changed since the advent of the digital age, and on the surface it looks like women have the "upper hand", there is a serious misunderstanding on the part of the average guy complaining and worried for his future prospects. That is this: men's value is mostly intangible. It is behavior-based, and can be either gained or lost by any man.

In Intimate Communion, author David Deida recalls a seminar he led where he paneled the women and men in his audience about the top 10 traits they find most attractive in a partner. The women gave, by and large, all intangible answers such as character, purpose, confidence, etc. The men gave what should be a predictable, standard, but telltale answer: beauty, beauty, beauty, beauty, etc. It is in this answer that we see why the playing field is skewed in men's favor. If a woman does not interest her desired man physically, she has little hope of attracting him. What can she realistically do? This is why the beauty industry exists, to ideally give any woman the chance to look like a million bucks and score the man they truly want. If she ends up spending a fortune doing her body up, it is just par for the course.

Men do NOT have to spend a small trust fund to become a desirable man. Self-discipline, self-control, purpose, willpower, focus and direction, resourcefulness, confidence, and solid skill with women can all be improved or learned for cheap. Also, the fact that they are non-physical allows use between ages, from young to old men, and explains why very young girls can still find older men highly attractive.

In summary, your dating life is actually much easier being a man than a woman. Nothing is perfect, of course, and challenges exist, but they pale in comparison when analyzed correctly. Be thankful for this and enjoy it.
